Do you have any china or silver or crystal that you inherited or received as a present, that you never use?
I say pull it all out of the attic, clean it up, and start using it! What are you saving it for?
And don't worry about matching everything... make the various styles a strength. When we got married, we asked friends to give us single place settings that they thought we' d like... and if they were from thrift stores, even better. All these years later, we still remember who gave us which settings when we set the table. And I feel pretty confident when I say our table is unlike any you'll see anywhere else!
I'm really not a big fan of assembly-line decorating... use what you have and have fun! No rules!
OK... one rule: scented candles and strongly scented flowers compete with the aromas of the food. After all the work you've put in on the food... Don't do that!
