Frequently, I have this urge for my mother's meatloaf...
But sometimes, it's summer, and the thought of heating the oven (and the whole house) to cook a meatloaf just isn't any fun.
And sometimes, I don't want days of meatloaf in the fridge...
So I started thinking about what went into her meatloaf, and if there was any other way to have those flavors. And then it hit me like a V8 commercial...
A meatloaf BURGER!
So I combined some egg, cracker crumbs (or breadcrumbs), a bit of sage (my top go-to herb!), a few grinds of pepper, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, and a little ketchup (you could use Sriracha or even a bit of tomato paste).
Unreal! It tasted exactly like her meatloaf!
And the only real differences: no grease at the bottom of a loaf pan, a very cool oven and house, and just two burgers! We generally have burgers naked on a bed of un- (or lightly) dressed greens (and there will be ketchup, or mayo, or something else on the burger to mix with the meat juices and dress the greens)...
No bun intended (OK... Sorry... Couldn't resist.)
