As part of our recent shrimp orgy, I took about 10 of the shrimp out of the bowl (before making two other major meals) and I cooked them... just barely... and removed them to a container to be cooled.
And then, I set out to make my very spicy cocktail sauce... but, Horror of Horrors, I realized I had no horseradish!
Then I remembered.
Out in the yard, I had noticed a rogue horseradish plant that had grown from, I assume, a small piece left in the ground last fall. So I got the flashlight and spade and went digging. Though I found only a tiny root, it was enough to make cocktail sauce that'll blow your head off! And what's left will grow again when spring returns...
Once the ground thaws, buy some horseradish at your local market and plant it... Beautiful plant! Beautiful flavor!
