As you all know, I wasn't expecting to be home again until mid-October. But boy was I thrilled to be given this "bonus" week at home. So, the first night, surprise surprise... was a Caprese. The tomatoes are amazing... and we're now into these remarkable Czech tomatoes given to us as seeds by my dear friend Marcia Kiesel.
Meaty, fleshy and very... tomato-y (sorry, there's no other way to describe them!). Then Sunday night, we had a burger (nothing in it but a little Worcestershire and a splash of Sriracha) and along side it, I took some plain leftover cooked pasta and combined it with green beans and tomatoes and herbs from the garden... And last night, Labor Day, we had soft white polenta (with mozzarella, Emmenthaler, and Parmesan) and a chicken Schnitzel sauced with tomatoes and herbs from the garden, capers, a little reduced white wine and a spoonful of sour cream. Gotta say... not bad at all!!

I've just been informed that rehearsals are moving quite fast, so I need to go back sooner than I'd planned. But that's not just OK, it's grrrrrrrrreat! I'm feeling a little left out of the whole rehearsal thing anyway! So, I'm working with my friends at Food & Wine magazine on Friday, and then going back to CT (but I'll still make you a few more meals before then!)
